Happy birthday Mom (and Happy Mother’s Day too)!

So I’m taking the chance that Mom won’t see this before she actually gets it.  You’ve heard the phrase, “a day late and a dollar short”?  That’s me.  Saturday is Mom’s birthday, and of course we know what Sunday is, though did you know that yesterday was Hispanic Mother’s Day?  At least according to the sign in the window of our local Grocery Leopard.  Anyway, this was supposed to be mailed today, in order to get to her up in Frozen Tundraland by Saturday, but last night while I was trying to put on the buttons (and ugh – crocheted button loops, don’t get me started), the vest was screaming for blocking.  The fronts would just not match without it.  Half a spray bottle and a whole lot of t-pins later, it looked great, but was too wet to mess with.  (Oops – ended with a preposition.  Sorry.)  Tonight it was mostly dry, and since there were only 4 buttons that were in essence tied on, it went very quickly.  So, unless I want to pay an arm and a leg for overnight shipping tomorrow, it will be at least Monday before Mom gets this.  Sorry Mom!  Anyway, the vest is an “unpattern”, somewhat loosely based on the vest in Yarns to Dye For, in Tahki Bunny Print Greens (not really green, but I didn’t name it).  I hope it fits!!!

In other news, well, there really is none, unless you count the fact that I figured out that I’ve finished 30 pairs of socks in approximately the last 2 years.  The pink and yellow socks are pair #31, and they’ll be done this weekend.  Whoops, probably just cursed that by saying it.  Well, at least I’ll get some knitting time during ER tonight.  I’m about 1/2 an inch from starting the toe, which should go quickly, but nothing about this particular sock has been quick.  It’s been ripped back no less than 3 times, and should be done and on my feet right now, but it has been obstinate.

Other cute thing today – Hayley’s teacher gave her a word today that she said was the perfect adjective for Hayley.  She tried to make me guess, but I would never have gotten it.  The word was “effervescent”.  Bubbly and fizzy – just perfect for my baby girl!

Happy Mom’s Day to all of you out there – you know who you are!
