If you hear a loud scream coming from the East Coast…

It’s probably me, and these darned Trekking socks.  I have now ripped out the hell (oops, Freudian typo!) heel three times.  I have no idea why they’re so difficult – it’s a standard pattern, short-row heel and toe, that I’ve done multiple times, I have just been really unhappy with the heel, it has seemed to have a good-sized gap where the foot starts.  My overly-perfectionist (read – anal) self has just decided that they’re not good enough.  I get to the point where they look okay, knit a few more rows, and then realize that I’m not going to be able to stand it, I’m going to have to go back, otherwise when I get to the toe, I’m going to rip it all out again, so I might as well do it now.  So I rip again.  It is good now, I finished it up last night, but now there’s a whole foot and toe to go, and I don’t even want to look at it.  If I didn’t love the yarn so very much, I would probably give them away, just so I wouldn’t have to look at them again.  As it is, I may be biased against them for a while!

I have also just joined Summer of Stash, and vowed to buy no new yarn before Labor Day, and just work from stash.   Shouldn’t be a problem stash-wise – there’s enough yarn here for 3 sweaters, multiple bags, 31 pairs of socks, and heaven only knows what else.  And – it has been 51 days since I’ve been to a yarn store or bought yarn, and I’m in withdrawal.  The other problem is, I work right around the corner from my favorite LYS, and it’s calling my name.  So – leave me a comment of encouragement – I can do this, right?
