Well, duh!

I’ve been reading on all kinds of blogs (because what else do I have to do?  yeah, right) about this great new yarn with aloe and jojoba IN the yarn.  How cool.  And it’s in great colors too!  But, of course, at our house we are on a yarn diet, so $16 sock yarn is not in our near future.  (insert sad face and sigh here)  Anyway, I was once again bored with a second sock (yes, really), so last night I pulled out some yarn from the SF trip (bought at Philato, I think) and started a cool sock I found online.  I knitted away for about 3 inches, and kept thinking that the yarn felt funny.  Good, but funny.  I pulled out the label to see if perhaps it was made of some strange fiber, and lo and behold, it is Austermann Step!  I bought it for the gorgeous colors, and didn’t even know at the time that it had mysterious softening ingredients.  Very, very cool.  It’s color 10, by the way, which is beautiful in the skein, and beautiful knitted up (if I hadn’t ripped it out, I’d have taken a picture), but the picture of it knitted up is just gross.  It doesn’t look like that at all, thank goodness.  I would certainly have never bought it from looking at that picture!  I’m back to the popsicle sock #2 for now, and will pull the Step yarn back out when my size 2 addis are free!  Oh, to be rich, and have enough addis to work on several pairs of socks at the same time.  It’s the only reason my WIP list isn’t any longer than it is now:
1. popsicle socks
2. neverending (or at least rarely worked on) fair isle hat/purse/not sure what it will be from the fair isle class in MARCH!  I don’t do hats, and only did it for the class, but it’s too cute and cost too much to just rip out.
3. ArtFibers sweater – it’s been 90+ here, just not good sweater-working weather
