The sock yarn saga continues

In the last post I referred to the CTH sock yarn in “Earth” tones. Well, Saturday the package arrived from Knit. I opened it up, and had to laugh. Very loudly. Here’s why:
The sock:
The sock next to its “matching” yarn:
Same yarn, same “color group” – really. Though I thought it might make a cute contrasting toe, Mark just wouldn’t go for it.
Needless to say, this necessitated a trip to not one but 2 yarn shops. At the second, I found a coordinating yarn in a Regia stretch for just under $7. Works for me, though it required ripping back all the way to the ankle rows, and I had been up to the toe decreases.
Mark wanted to know if I was going to send the other yarn back. Here’s my math – $22 for the yarn, plus $5 to ship it, plus $5 more to ship it back – result is $10 spent and nothing to show for it. Or, let the $27 stay spent and keep the yarn. That’s a little more palatable to me – plus, it’s Cherry Tree Hill, it’s super soft and super pretty. I’m pretty sure I can find a use for it!
These are some of the Online Supersocke Tropic socks I’ve been working on. I love the colors, and the interesting way they repeat.
I did finally finish up Mom’s Walking Away Socks. These are done in Socks that Rock Tanzanite, and they are yummy! Thanks to Hayley for the tricky modeling!
It’s Knit Night tonight. I’m going, but I shouldn’t be knitting. I’ve pinched a nerve in my neck, and now it’s killing my arm. Maybe I can go and just knit for a little while? I know I at least need to go and be with my people!
